The purpose of this site is to make available some history about the Minesweeper, USS Pirate AM-275 during it's two tours of duty during WWII and Korea. Available are some characteristics of the Pirate, Specifications, where and when built, etc. You will see Photos of the armament onboard the Pirate and photos of the 2nd Commissioning at the Naval Shipyard ,Yokosuka Japan , on August 14, 1950. Available is a Map of Korea showing the area where the Pirate went down, and actual Photos of the Pirate as it struck the mine and sank in approximately 4 minutes . You can view the roster of the crew members who served on board during theKorean Tour as well as WWII Tour Also available are some Additional photos of WWII crew members and Photos of this web designer Information is made available from News clippings collected by the sites designer and will include information from Government records, as well as information and photos received from other crewmembers. You can read the Commanding Officers report of the incident. The Pirate was awarded the PRESIDENTIAL UNIT CITATION as well as other combat ribbons all displayed within this site. .
